Question Regarding Terramaster F2-423 & Your 4K Plex Test - Enquiries - 06-18-2023

Hello there. I saw your 4K Plex test on the F2-423 and how the CPU was quite high. I'm new to Plex and NAS but I was wondering if there would be any advantage to transcoding the media with Plex beforehand, I will want to watch when not at home and for family with slow internet speeds, and then adding that media to the NAS?

Many thanks in advance and please keep up the good work you do.

Certainly! Plex does offer the option of offline transcoding, which can be advantageous in scenarios where you anticipate watching media remotely or sharing it with family members who have slower internet speeds. Offline transcoding involves pre-generating a separate video file that is optimized for remote streaming, eliminating the need for on-the-fly transcoding during playback. By utilizing this feature, you can ensure smoother and more efficient streaming experiences, even in situations with limited bandwidth or slower connections.
