Advice about which NAS to buy - Enquiries - 06-16-2023

Hi

I suppose this is not a very unique request, but I'd be tremendously grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Looking for a NAS with these requirements:

-Very easy to operate, both install and usage
-Two bays, RAID1
-I'll create a personal cloud to access while on the move -noting I have no fixed IP at home but, like the majority of home users, a dynamic one.
-With a decent transfer rate, enough for backing up data from the home network computers and to stream a 1080p movie with a decent result.
-Upgradable, that is, from a brand that provides support to the OS for it to last a few years, at minimum!
-Decent security to have it open to the Internet for remote access.
-Under 200€ Smile) -excl discs, of course.

Which brand/models would you recommend to me to have a look at?

Thanks a lot for any information you can provide.

Enric

Based on your requirements, the DS220+ would be a great choice for you. It offers a user-friendly experience, making both installation and usage hassle-free. With its two bays supporting RAID1, you can ensure data redundancy and protection. The DS220+ allows you to create a personal cloud, enabling remote access to your files even with a dynamic IP address.

In terms of performance, the DS220+ delivers a decent transfer rate, allowing for efficient data backups from your home network computers. It is also capable of streaming 1080p movies smoothly. Additionally, the DS220+ is upgradable and comes from a brand that provides long-term support for its operating system, ensuring its longevity.

When it comes to security, the DS220+ offers decent measures to enable safe remote access over the internet. It falls within your specified budget of under 200€ (excluding disks), making it an affordable option that meets your needs.

If you're looking for additional features and versatility, the DS220+ provides a full range of apps for backups and virtualization. However, if you're primarily focused on backups and file storage via SMB, the budget-friendly DS223 could be a suitable alternative.
