Jellyfin Transcode - Enquiries - 05-23-2023
First, thank you for your help. You got me set up with my NAS and I'm appreciated. Videos were wonderful.
That said, here is my predicament
NAS: Terramaster F5-221 (8Gb added RAM)
Issue: Jellyfin Hardware Transcoding doesn't seem to work and still runs CPU at 100 percent with any 4k movie.
I use my Xbox Series X as my media player of choice because it's my livingroom hub effectively. The Jellyfin App is just a webwrapper. That said... it's not the best supported. However, I don't mind transcoding down where needed. My biggest issue is that when I run items even when transcoding seems set up as advertised... my CPU runs at 100 percent. I'm trying to run VAAPI. I get same results on my PC through web (which I expect and I use to test.) Do you know what might be the issue here? Thank you in advance.

It looks like you are trying to transcode 4K. This CPU might be too weak for that task. You could convert videos into smaller resolutions to avoid transcoding live.
