I have a few questions about the 1288x. Can I use RDIMM instead of UDIMM RAM?
Also, can the USB C port on the back be utilized by VMs? If it can, can I plug in a USB C Dock and hook up 2 monitors?

The QNAP TVS-h1288X supports both RDIMM and UDIMM RAM modules. However, please note that when using RDIMMs, you will need to use the ECC type of RDIMMs, while for UDIMMs, non-ECC type will be sufficient. Also check CPU spec sheet, what is the maximum supported RAM.
Regarding the USB-C port on the back of the unit, monitors via USB dock will unlikely work. Simple USB drives will though.
