Populate HDD possions in DS1621+ - Enquiries - 03-24-2023

Hi,

I have bought an DS1621+ with 3 x 16 TB HDD and 2 x 1 GB SSD.
Question:
Does it matter in what of the 6 bays i place the HDD?
Because of possible heat of the SSD is it possible to place the HDD in slot 4, 5 and 6 or even slot 2, 4 and 6?

Regards Léon

No, it doesn't matter which bays you place the HDDs in. The DS1621+ is designed to be flexible in terms of drive placement, so you can use any combination of bays to meet your storage needs.

As for the SSD placement, it's recommended to place them in slots 1 and 2 as these are designed to support M.2 NVMe SSDs, and have direct access to the CPU, providing faster access times. However, if you're concerned about heat, you can place the SSDs in the other bays as long as they are compatible with the type of SSD you have. Keep in mind that placing the SSDs in different bays may result in different performance levels due to different levels of connectivity with the CPU.
