Looking an easy entry level setup - Enquiries - 03-08-2023

Hi

Just a middle aged woman with no computer building experience looking for a backup solution.

I want to have wireless backup of my phone photos (android) and backup of my laptop files.

If there is something with software that will auto backup my photos with a wired connection to my phone, that is fine too.

I do have an nvidia shield that runs plex so i could turn that into a server later.
////

Looking for a rec to buy an entry level nas backup.

I want an easy way to backup my mobile photos and my laptop. I need auto backup...if i have to drag folders over after initial setup i will just forget.

I was looking at WD my cloud home but I feel like I can do better.

I have an nvidia shield which is a plex server.

Hi! A NAS can be a great backup solution for your needs. Here are a few options to consider:

Synology DS220j - This is a great entry-level NAS that has two drive bays for redundancy or expansion. It's compatible with many third-party apps, including Plex, and has a user-friendly interface. You can use Synology's "Moments" app to automatically backup your phone photos and sync files from your laptop.

QNAP TS-251D/ 53D/ 264 - This is another great entry-level NAS that has two drive bays. It also has a user-friendly interface and is compatible with many third-party apps, including Plex. You can use QNAP's "Qsync" app to automatically backup your phone photos and sync files from your laptop.

Asustor AS1002T - This is a budget-friendly NAS with two drive bays. It's also user-friendly and compatible with many third-party apps, including Plex. You can use Asustor's "AiData" app to automatically backup your phone photos and sync files from your laptop.

All of these NAS devices have easy-to-use software for automatically backing up your photos and files. Additionally, they all have mobile apps for accessing your files remotely. They can also be configured to work with your Nvidia Shield as a Plex server.
