SYN DS-1621+ - Enquiries - 01-27-2023 watching your youtube videos last year, I jumped the gun and purchased the DS-1621+ w/the Ryzen uProc. My problem seems to be in decoding 4K .mkv content as the 1621+ lacks a GPU. Q1: Is it possible to add a GPU card in the available expansion slot? Q2: Have you tried this before? Q3: Or will I just have to buy a whole new system>? Q4: And if I do need to buy a new system, can I just lift my 6x20TB SATA's out of my 1621+ and drop them into a 1621xs+ and still maintain data integrity? Q5: if not, is it possible to just buy a 1621xs+ motherboard from SYN and replace the motherboard I have? As PLEX / VideoServer is my number one usage, what can I do? Or am I just stuck..... Thanks guys, and keep up the good work making those awesome videos! /Aaron RE: SYN DS-1621+ - ed - 01-27-2023 Only Qnap allow GPU cards. With Synology you could go for Xeon based models. You should be able to simply move drives to the new NAS. Alternatively, you can use offline transcoding. This will generate an additional video file which is a smaller or different file format. If you use Plex it will automatically pick and play the compatible version of the file without a need for on the fly conversion. I hope this helps. |
