TVS-h874 i5 - Enquiries - 01-05-2023 Hi there, much appreciate the advice; I'm looking at upgrading my old QNAP 6 bay that is now not supported. Primary use is PLEX and ROON HD music server. I also run a M2 expansion card with two 250GB drives in QTier. Roon works well with album art but QNAP doesn't update the latest version in the repository, I have to download it manually specifying a much later system. Plex is output to a 4K Apple TV device and H265 files won't run on the Plex app, but does on another? I run CAT7 earthed shield cabling for the music. I'm thinking of the TVS-h874 or 674 machines utilising the i5 processor, . 1. I'm confused which QNAP operating system to use, your thoughts? 2. Much hardware differences between the 6 and 8 bay machines? Can the i5 be upgraded to the i7 processor in the future? Thank you RE: TVS-h874 i5 - ed - 01-05-2023 The TVS-h874 and TVS-h674 are both high-performance NAS devices that are powered by Intel Core processors. The TVS-h874 has a more powerful processor (an 8th generation Intel Core i5) compared to the TVS-h674 (which has a 7th generation Intel Core i5). The TVS-h874 also has more storage capacity, with 8 drive bays compared to the TVS-h674's 6 drive bays. This is the best NAS we have tested. It should handle h264/265. I can see people upgrading CPU, but Qnap offers also i7 model. I hope this helps. |
