NAS for music producer - Enquiries - 12-27-2022 Have users who uses a MAC and Windows PC. They need to backup / copy video and music from an external storage device to NAS and have both the MAC and Windows PC be able to access it and use it. Also be able to download music and video from MAC and Windows PC to the NAS device and have both MAC and PC be able to access and use the file. Was looking at the Synology DS620S but what do you recommend. Also, they will need to increase the storage size over time. The user currently has 2 Terabytes of music but is expected to double or triple that by the end of next year 2023. RE: NAS for music producer - ed - 01-03-2023 The Synology DS620Slim is a good choice for a NAS device that can be used with both Mac and Windows computers. It has a compact design and supports file sharing over SMB, NFS, and AFP protocols, so it should be compatible with both Mac and Windows. It also has a range of apps for managing and accessing your data, including the Synology Drive app for synchronizing files between devices. To ensure that you have enough storage capacity for your music and video files, you can add additional hard drives to the DS620Slim as needed. It supports drives up to 4TB in size, so you should be able to add plenty of additional storage as your needs grow. https://www.seagate.com/gb/en/products/nas-drives/ironwolf-ssd/ You can start with just 3 drives and add more later. Overall, the DS620Slim should be able to meet your needs for backing up, storing, and accessing music and video files from both Mac and Windows computers. It's a reliable and feature-rich NAS device that is well-suited for use in a home environment. Alternatively, ds923+ / ds1522+ allows 2.5inch SSD or HDD in their hard drive bays. I hope this helps. |
