Storage volume - replacing drives - size limit - Enquiries - 12-16-2022 I have a DS1817+ with 8x 10tb drives in raid 6 setup. Getting low on space and want to replace drives with bigger option. I know I need to replace all 8 to get any improvement, but curious if I use 18tb does the 108tb limit apply to the 'raw' (8x18) or after raid applied (6x18)? I can't find any good answers anywhere RE: Storage volume - replacing drives - size limit - ed - 12-16-2022 The limit applies to the volume. So if you use bigger drives, you could create two separate volumes. And this would work. Sometimes you also need more RAM. I hope this helps. |
