Plex server - Enquiries - 10-24-2022

Hello, first of all love your channel Iv learned a great deal of information. I had a question about what is the best way for me to host plex. After watching your videos I think a synolgy nas would be best. With blackfriday approaching I want be ready to purchase whichever we decide is best for me. As far the media files I plan to use not to sure about the format but most non 4K how ever I want to plan for the future in which I would like to use 4K. Also plan to store some work files that we can reach when not home. What would be the best system for me?
Thank you in advance.

If you only plan on streaming locally at your home and your TVs support those 4K files, you could get a cheap Realtek-based NAS such as DS218play. HDD are not very important in 1 or 2 bay systems. WD Red plus seems to be quieter.
If you do need remote 4k access and you want on the flt transcoding, you may need to consider TS-473A with a dedicated PCIe GPU.

I hope this helps.
