Synology HDD migration? - Enquiries - 02-28-2020 Thank you for taking the time to look at my question. I am a novice! I have Synology 415play (SHR config with DSM 6.2.x) which has maximum capacity of 4 x 6TB HDD and which I am close to filling with four of us backing up + multimedia. I was looking at moving to a 420+ or possibly a 920+. I was hoping that would be really easy and a case of just moving the 4 WD Red HDDs from one enclosure to another. And then buying bigger new HDDs over a period. But then I see an article that says that that might not be possible with HDDs from a DS415play. Is that right? It's not easy? How do I do it without having to buy a new enclosure and new HDDs?? Many thanks for any advice. Synology HDD migration? - ed - 02-15-2021 Yes, DS415play will not allow easy HDD moving to a new NAS.You will need to copy data over to a new NAS manually or use Synology Migration app.I hope this helps. |
