SynoLogy DS220+ and Plex or Emby? - Enquiries - 02-28-2020 Hello, I have a Question about the Synology DS220+ I will buy this one and putt my movies (MKV files 1080 p) on it and play it with the Emby or Plex application on my LG Oled TV or is the Nas not to use for this with media? need i to buy an other model? what about the DS218 or DS218play what is your advise for this? Thank you for helping me out best regards, Raymond SynoLogy DS220+ and Plex or Emby? - ed - 01-25-2021 If your TV is compatible with MKV and very likely it, then you do not need to worry about things like transcoding unless you want to stream on mobile devices too. Either way, DS220+ is quite powerful and is capable of converting videos on the fly if you happen to need this. Also Plus series are a good choice since they can have RAM upgrades at the later stage. This is something Plex often needs.You can also use DS Video app made by Synology which is capable of 4K streaming too. This is something good to have in a future proof solution.I hope this helps. |
