NAS upgrade - Enquiries - 03-04-2025 Hi This is abrham, new to the help desk position. I was assigned to look for NAS to replace the current server we have with the following specs: PowerVault NX3230 "Processor: Intel v3 1.9 GHz RAM: 2*8GB RDIMM 2133MT/s Hard Drive: 2*300GB SAS PERC H730 / RAID 1 5*2TB NLSAS PERC H730 / RAID 5 Network Adapter: 1*Broadcom 5720 1 Gb" The new NAS should be more redundant and has to have a 10GB LAN network card. Thank you in advance. RE: NAS upgrade - ed - 03-07-2025 Since you're replacing a PowerVault NX3230, you’ll want a NAS that improves redundancy, performance, and network speed while still offering RAID flexibility. Given that you need 10GbE support, here are a few strong options depending on your budget and storage needs: Recommended NAS Options with 10GbE QNAP TVS-h874 (i5/i7 12th Gen) – Best Performance & Redundancy Intel Core i5-12400 or i7-12700 (Powerful CPU) Supports ZFS (QuTS Hero) for improved redundancy & snapshots PCIe slot for 10GbE NIC (or built-in on some models) RAID 6 support for better fault tolerance than RAID 5 Best if you want high performance for virtualization, backups, or heavy workloads Synology DS3622xs+ – Enterprise-Level Synology with Redundancy 6-core Intel Xeon CPU for server-level performance Built-in 10GbE support RAID 6 support for better protection than RAID 5 12-bay for future storage expansion Asustor Lockerstor 10 AS7110T – Good Balance of Price & Performance Intel Xeon E-2224 CPU Built-in 10GbE NIC RAID 6 support 10-bay for better long-term scalability Final Thoughts If performance & redundancy are top priority, go for QNAP TVS-h874. If you prefer enterprise-grade features, Synology DS3622xs+ is a great choice. If you want a balance of performance & affordability, Asustor AS7110T is worth considering. |
