Connect Terramaster F4-424 direct to PC - Enquiries - 11-01-2024
Hello from down under and firstly thanks for some awesome reviews. Best I have found.
This is my first NAS LAN setup.
I want to connect my Terramaster F4-424 Pro NAS direct to my PC (Windows 11) to store and retrieve video files and photo files relatively quickly.
I have 4 X 4tb SSDs installed in TRAID and I also have 2 x 240Gb SSD set up for Hypercache.
My PC has 1 x 2.4 LAN Port.
TOS Software has been installed on NAS and RAID configured and now I just need a direct connection as my PC is nowhere near my router, and as I don't need software updates, direct will hopefully give me quicker access to files in shared folders.
I just need to know what to do to get the fastest connection between the PC and the NAS direct and if that means shared folders or what I really don't know.

Steps to Connect Your NAS Directly to Your PC:
Use a Network Cable:
Connect an Ethernet cable from the NAS directly to the LAN port on your PC.
Configure Network Settings on Your PC:
Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
Right-click on your Ethernet connection and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties.
Choose Use the following IP address and enter the following settings:
IP address: 192.168.1.2 (or any private IP not in use)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: Leave it blank.
Click OK to save your settings.
Configure the NAS Network Settings:
Access the TOS interface of your Terramaster NAS.
Go to Settings > Network > Network Interface.
Set the static IP of the NAS to 192.168.1.1 (this should match your subnet).
Save the settings.
Access Shared Folders:
Once both devices are configured, you should be able to access the NAS from your PC.
Open File Explorer and type \\192.168.1.1 into the address bar to access shared folders.
You may need to log in with your NAS credentials.
Additional Tips:
Check Hypercache Performance: Since you have SSDs set up for Hypercache, ensure that the caching is configured correctly to improve access speeds further.
