Choice: D-Link DWR-2101 vs Netgear Nighthawk M6 (or M5?) - Enquiries - 10-28-2024 Thanks so much for your detailed video. We will need a Hotspot for work sessions: max. 15-18 Laptops. Webapp downloads map tiles (depending upon user zoom level needed, these are also cached by browser) otherwise very little data is moving over the network. Alternatives considered: D-Link DWR-2101 and Netgear Nighthawk M6 (not Pro). Both are good but we are not sure wherether the 1.6GB (D-Link) is sufficient or better to go with M6 (2.4GB max.). Hope the question makes sense and you can give an opinion. Thank you, Robert RE: Choice: D-Link DWR-2101 vs Netgear Nighthawk M6 (or M5?) - ed - 11-01-2024 Thanks for reaching out! Your project sounds interesting, and I’m glad to help you weigh your options. For your use case with 15-18 laptops primarily downloading map tiles, both the D-Link DWR-2101 and the Netgear Nighthawk M6 are solid choices. However, considering the potential load, I’d lean towards the Nighthawk M6. With a maximum speed of 2.4GB, it offers a bit more headroom, which might come in handy during peak usage times, especially if several users are zooming in and out of maps simultaneously. The D-Link’s 1.6GB could suffice if your usage remains light, but it’s always good to have that extra bandwidth available. Since you mentioned being flexible with your budget, investing a little more in the M6 might be worth it for the added performance and reliability. |
