Nas selector - Enquiries - 10-18-2024

I am looking for a solution for editing 4K videos

Storage capacity of around 150TB

Need model which support 10GB cards

4 video editors will be using simultaneously and streaming up to 14 cameras of 4K videoat a time in a computer

Also we do various data transfers simultaneously other than editing, say we copy 12 memory cards of 500mb read speeds together would need speed 6gb dedicated for it

Need redundancy for drive failures

Please suggest best option accordingly

For your needs of 4K video editing with multiple editors, high storage, and redundancy, the models you're considering all look solid. Here's a brief breakdown of each:

Synology RS4021xs+

CPU: Intel D-1541, 16GB RAM
Ports: 2x 10GbE
Expansion: 16-bay, PCIe slots for NVMe upgrades
Performance: Ideal for 2-3 editors in 4K per 10GbE port
Price: $5399.99
Pros: High capacity, solid for simultaneous 4K editing with NVMe caching.
Synology RS3621xs+

CPU: Intel D-1541, 8GB RAM
Ports: 2x 10GbE
Expansion: 12-bay, PCIe slots for NVMe upgrades
Performance: Similar to the RS4021xs+, but slightly less capacity
Price: $4578.01
Pros: Good balance of price and features for 2-3 editors per 10GbE.
Synology SA3400

CPU: Intel D-1541, 16GB RAM
Ports: 2x 10GbE
Expansion: 12-bay, PCIe for NVMe
Performance: Comparable to RS4021xs+ but with a higher price
Price: $10697.61
Pros: High-end choice, designed for demanding environments.
Qnap TVS-h1688X

CPU: Intel W-1250, 32GB RAM
Ports: 2x 10GbE, M.2 NVMe support
Expansion: 12-bay, 3 PCIe slots
Performance: Great for 2-3 editors, offers better base RAM for performance
Price: $3189
Pros: Best value for price and hardware, with NVMe support.
The Qnap TVS-h1688X stands out for its better RAM and price, but if you're looking for the reliability and software ecosystem of Synology, the RS4021xs+ and RS3621xs+ are excellent options with PCIe expansion for NVMe caching. The Synology SA3400 is overkill unless you need extra reliability for critical environments.
