Setup issues - brobinson - 09-15-2024 Hello I am trying to setup my new DS224+ for first time, opted to do the full disc check and am now regretting it.. NAS has been working on this for 7 hours, stuck at 1.8gb on first 6tb drive, what should I do? Why is it stuck? Is this damaging the hdd? Tks RE: Setup issues - ed - 09-16-2024 It’s definitely frustrating when things don’t seem to be moving, but a full disk check can take a while, especially with larger drives. It’s not uncommon for the process to take a day or even two to complete, depending on the drive's size and health. The NAS is working through checking every part of the drive to ensure everything is in good shape, so it can be quite time-consuming. Unless you’re seeing any specific error messages or signs of failure, it’s usually best to let it continue. Make sure your NAS is in a cool, well-ventilated spot and isn’t overloaded with other tasks. If you’re really concerned or if the process seems to be stalled for an unusually long time, checking the drive’s health with diagnostic tools or reaching out to Synology support might be a good next step. Hang in there, and hopefully, it’ll finish up soon! |
