Using WD Red & Ironwolf Pro together - Enquiries - 01-11-2024

G'Day

I have purchased a Synology DS1522+ with 2 x 12tb Ironwolf pro HDD. Still waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime, I'd like to ask if when setting it up, I can also add 2 x 10tb WD Red drives to increase the capacity. The drives were bought a few years back, but were never installed for use. Are the 2 types of drives able to be installed together, and will it cause any problems?

Cheers

No, slap them all in, and you'll be fine, I have a great mix of drives over my 3 running Synology. You can set them up in pairs in raid 0 or 1, or put them all together in an SHR and get about 30TB
