Replace hard drives - Enquiries - 12-29-2023 I have recently replaced hard drives in my ds918+ and want to sell the old drives on. How do I prepare them so they are ‘empty’ or should I have done something to them when they were still in the Nas unit? RE: Replace hard drives - ed - 01-05-2024 Remove Drives and Connect to a Computer: If the drives have been replaced and are not in the DS918+ anymore, you can connect them to a computer. Use a SATA to USB adapter or an external hard drive enclosure. Once connected, you can format the drives through the computer's operating system. Use Secure Erase Software: For an added layer of security, consider using secure erase software. This software ensures that data is not recoverable and provides a more thorough cleaning of the drive. |
